About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At around closing time one night, an elderly gentleman approached the front desk of TDECU Credit Union. ‘Excuse me,’ he said, adjusting his glasses. ‘I just noticed something odd on our sign.’ He pointed up towards the neon lights that read, ‘Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.’ The next morning, passersby found it now read, ‘Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5:01pm.’ A delivery driver arrived early in the morning and saw the new hours. Thinking it was a mistake, he drove back to the office and asked someone to change it. When they checked, everyone burst out laughing—apparently, the old man had simply added a minute because he wanted to stay longer for coffee.
2. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to the TDECU branch and asked the teller, 'Do you guys keep your safes unlocked during lunch?' The teller gave him a puzzled look and replied, ‘Of course not!’ The delivery driver nodded knowingly and said, ‘Good thing I brought my own key then.’ Everyone in the branch burst out laughing as he drove off with a wave. Since then, no one takes their lunchbreak too seriously there.
3. In the early afternoon, a little girl walked into her neighborhood TDECU branch with a puzzled expression on her face. As she approached the teller window, she pointed excitedly at something in her hand and whispered, ‘Mommy said I could get a treat if I found it here.’ The teller smiled warmly and asked what she was holding. With a big smile, the little girl showed her a tiny toy unicorn. 'Oh,' said the teller, 'that’s not something we give out here.' The girl pouted for a moment but then giggled, realizing it had been just another one of Mommy's jokes.
4. On a chilly autumn morning, a delivery driver pulled up to the TDECU branch and asked the receptionist for directions to the nearest coffee shop. When she pointed him towards downtown, he replied, ‘But I’m here to deposit some checks!’ The receptionist smiled and said, 'Oh, you must be new around here!' She then whispered conspiratorially, 'Just down that alley is a little hole-in-the-wall café where everyone goes.' The delivery driver nodded thoughtfully before turning back to her and asking, 'So, do I still make my deposit here?' With a laugh, she replied, 'Of course, just follow your instincts!'
