About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to Auto Check and asked the mechanic, ‘Why do you always wave at that old truck parked across the street?’ The mechanic shrugged and replied, ‘Oh, that’s just Old Betsy. She waves back whenever I fix her.’ A few weeks later, an excited neighbor rushed over one evening and exclaimed, ‘Hey, did you see Old Betsy today? She was waving like crazy!’ The mechanic smiled knowingly and said, ‘Yep, looks like she finally found someone who could fix her transmission.’
2. One day, an elderly gentleman walked into Auto Check and asked the mechanic, ‘Do you think my car could talk?’ The mechanic looked puzzled but replied, ‘Well, sir, if it did, would it tell us why it’s always running late?’ The old man laughed heartily. ‘I don’t know,’ he said, ‘but I’ve often wondered.’ Then a young delivery driver chimed in, ‘Hey, maybe that’s why it never delivers on time!’ Everyone burst out laughing, and from then on, whenever anyone mentioned Auto Check, they’d whisper, ‘That place where cars get their own agenda.’
3. One afternoon, as customers were waiting for their cars to be serviced, a voice crackled over the intercom: 'Attention, everyone—your vehicles are in good hands here at Auto Check, but please don’t leave your pets inside!' Suddenly, an old neighbor walked in and asked if anyone had seen his dog, Buster. Turns out, Buster had been happily snoozing under one of the cars since morning! Everyone laughed, and soon enough, Buster was reunited with his owner. The intercom voice added jokingly, ‘And remember folks, next time you bring Fido or Fluffy, feel free to drop them off at our new on-site kennel!’
4. One night, a neighbor drove up to Auto Check and asked the mechanic, 'I just filled my tank with gas—can I come back tomorrow?' The mechanic shook his head and replied, ‘No way, man! That’s not how it works.’ The neighbor shrugged and walked away, only to return later that evening with an empty tank, smiling sheepishly. ‘So,’ he said, ‘can I fill up now?’
