The attendant bent down curiously, only to discover it was just an old glow-in-the-dark starfish that had washed up from the nearby river. The boy giggled, picked it up, and said, 'Thanks for helping me find my lost friend!' Everyone laughed, and from then on, whenever someone asked about the mysterious creature, they’d smile and say, ‘Oh, that’s just our friendly neighborhood starfish.’

2. One morning, a regular pulled up to the pump and noticed something odd—his car’s gas gauge kept swinging between empty and full as he filled up. The man looked perplexed but then laughed, thinking it was some kind of prank by his kids. Just as he finished pumping, an old delivery driver walked over and said, ‘That’s just how their gauges work when they’re low on juice.’ The regular shook his head and drove off, muttering something about never underestimating Mobil again.

3. At dawn, when the gas station's doors were just opening, an old man approached the cashier and asked, 'Do you remember me?' The cashier smiled and nodded. ‘Of course I do!’ he said. The old man paid for his coffee and cigarettes with a worn-out twenty-dollar bill, then turned around and added: “And don’t forget to fill up my truck while you’re at it.” He winked and walked out into the early morning light. Ever since that day, everyone who works there knows him as simply ‘the guy who always pays in twenties’.

4. At closing time, when the attendant locked up for the night, he heard a strange voice over the intercom: ‘Fill her up with stars today, Mobil.’ Curious, the attendant replied, ‘With gas or coffee, sir?’ A soft laugh crackled through the speakers: ‘Neither, sonny—just fill her up with dreams tonight.’ The next morning, everyone in town noticed their cars ran smoother than usual, and the attendant grinned as his regulars teased him about talking to ghosts. But whenever someone asked who said it, he’d just wink and say, ‘It’s my secret friend from the night shift.’
