The driver watched as the little pup seemed to follow an invisible trail, its tail wagging excitedly. Curious, the driver followed the tiny canine’s path until they reached the refrigerated section. There, amidst the ice cream and frozen pizzas, stood another crate—this one marked ‘DO NOT OPEN UNTIL OPENING HOURS.’ With a mischievous smile, the little dog nudged open the box, revealing a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies. The relieved driver shook his head, chuckled, and whispered, ‘Well, looks like someone knows how to get their treats early!’

2. One night, as an exhausted Safeway cashier was ringing up groceries, an elderly customer growled, ‘Why is everything so darn expensive around here?’ The cashier replied, ‘Ma’am, it’s not us—we’re just trying to feed America!’ Just then, a delivery driver walked in and whispered to the cashier, 'She's been asking that every week.' As it turned out, the carton was just following her because she always left the door open behind her shopping cart. 4. One foggy morning, a Safeway manager received an odd message on the store’s intercom: ‘Attention all shoppers—your grocery list is now self-checkout.’ The manager blinked several times, thinking it was some kind of prank. But as he looked around, he saw customers staring blankly at their empty shopping baskets. A regular from down the street walked up and asked, 'Excuse me, do you have any milk?' The manager shrugged and replied, 'I guess we'll find out!' And so began Safeway's first ever fully automated grocery experience.
