About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At RaceTrac, a delivery driver once asked, ‘Why does that old guy always pay with pennies?’ ‘Because,’ said an older gentleman behind him, smiling and dropping a handful of copper coins into the tip jar, ‘I’m teaching your kids math.’ The delivery driver just shook his head, smiling, as the old man drove off in his ancient pickup truck.
2. At dawn, when most gas stations are quiet, an elderly gentleman would pull up to RaceTrac and ask for a strange favor. "Can you fill my tank with coffee instead of gas?" he’d inquire. The clerk, amused but accommodating, nodded and filled the tank with dark-roast bliss. As the old man drove off, he waved cheerfully, leaving behind only the scent of freshly brewed beans. To this day, some employees still joke that RaceTrac has the best ‘fuel’ around—especially on weekends.
3. At RaceTrac, someone once exclaimed, ‘Did you see that guy filling up with water instead of gas?’ Another time, a delivery driver asked for directions and was told to go ‘straight until you see the RaceTrac with no gas pump.’ He drove off, confused, but eventually found it—empty except for a lone water cooler. A neighbor later commented, ‘I guess he needed hydration more than fuel!’
4. At RaceTrac, a young man noticed something peculiar one morning. As he filled up his car, he kept glancing at the clock above the pumps. Finally, curiousity got the better of him. He looked around, then whispered to no-one in particular, ‘What time is it now?’ The clock blinked back: 4:20. He laughed and thought nothing more of it until later that day when everyone started asking if he’d been to RaceTrac 'round noon.’
