About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the Allstate office closed its doors, a regular noticed something peculiar. Every Wednesday, exactly at 9 PM, a small dog would appear from behind the counter and bark insistently for five minutes before disappearing again. Curious, he watched every week. Finally, one Friday evening, just as the clock struck nine, the little dog reappeared. It trotted up to the receptionist’s desk, sat down, and waited patiently until an employee arrived early on Saturday morning. When asked what it was doing there, the dog simply wagged its tail and looked expectantly at the coffee pot. Turns out, it was just a neighborhood mutt with excellent timing.
2. At lunchtime, an Allstate employee overheard a delivery driver muttering under his breath: ‘I’ll never understand why they named it “Allstate”.’ The next day, everyone in the office started noticing that whenever someone mentioned the word ‘all,’ something unexpected happened. Soon enough, someone said, 'I'll get you all,' and suddenly there was a power outage. Another muttered, 'It’s all good,' just as the coffee machine broke down. By afternoon, everyone had stopped mentioning anything collective altogether. The delivery driver eventually shrugged and remarked, ‘Guess I’ll never know what they meant by that.’
3. One day, while waiting for her mother inside the Allstate lobby, little Sarah spotted something odd on the wall clock. The second hand seemed to freeze in place every few minutes, then jump ahead suddenly. Curious, she mentioned it to her mom, who smiled and whispered that it was just an old quirk of the clock. Later that evening, when Sarah’s neighbor popped over with a cake, he joked, ‘Maybe they insured the clock too!’ Everyone laughed, and from then on, whenever someone asked about the strange clock, they’d say, “It’s covered under our Allstate policy.”
4. One morning, a neighbor stopped by the Allstate branch to drop off some paperwork. As he approached the counter, he heard a soft humming coming from one of the empty offices. Curious, he peered inside and saw only an old lamp flickering on and off. The neighbor smiled, thinking it was just an old office ghost. He turned away for a moment, then heard a faint voice whispering, ‘Can I help you with something?’ Surprised, he looked back—and found himself face-to-face with a perplexed delivery driver asking if anyone needed packages delivered.’
