About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dusk, when most people were heading home, a delivery driver pulled up to American Family Insurance with an unusual package. The receptionist smiled and asked, ‘Is that a new kind of policy?’ The driver grinned sheepishly and replied, ‘No, ma’am—it’s a live turkey.’
‘A what?’ she exclaimed.
‘For Thanksgiving,’ he explained. ‘We deliver them too!’
2. In the early morning hours, before the first customers arrived, a delivery driver noticed something odd in the loading bay. Among the usual boxes and packages lay an old, dusty teddy bear, its eyes wide open as if watching every move. Curious, he picked it up and carried it inside. Later that day, one of the employees recognized it—an old toy from her childhood, long lost. She smiled, hugged it tightly, and said, ‘Thanks for bringing back memories, stranger.’
3. At closing time, an employee locked up American Family Insurance and switched off the lights. Walking towards the parking lot, he heard an odd voice over the intercom: ‘We’re open until midnight.’ Curious, he walked back inside and found no one there. Just as he was about to leave again, a deep voice boomed from behind: ‘Hey, don’t you trust us? We ARE open until midnight!’ Turns out it was only the night manager, joking around with him. They both laughed, and the employee realized that sometimes even insurance offices can be friendly places.
4. At closing time, an employee locked up American Family Insurance and switched off the lights. As she walked toward her car, she heard a voice behind her: ‘Don’t forget your umbrella—looks like rain.’ She spun around, but nobody was there. Just as she reached for her phone, another voice said, 'Maybe you should take my advice? There's thunder rumbling in the distance.' Turning back, she saw an old man with a wide umbrella smiling from across the street. 'Thanks,' she laughed, 'but I don’t think that’s how insurance works!'
