About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver noticed an old toolbox sitting on the auto shop’s dusty porch. Curious, he opened it and found a mysterious wrench with a note: ‘Use wisely.’ Since then, strange things started happening around Barebones—cars starting themselves, engines purring like kittens after repairs. Finally, one day, a neighbor drove his car into the shop for routine maintenance. Afterwards, while watering his garden, he heard a familiar purr coming from his driveway. Turned out, his car had decided to stay for coffee! The whole town laughed when they saw him walking back home, pushing his parked vehicle.
2. A little boy walked into the auto shop one afternoon, pointing excitedly at something under the hood of a truck. ‘What’s that?’ he asked, his eyes wide with curiosity. The mechanic looked down and smiled, shaking his head slightly. Nobody had noticed it before. The mechanic leaned in closer, squinting at the object. 'Why, that's just an old bolt,' he said, reaching for his wrench. But as he did, another kid chimed in from behind, 'Hey, I saw that on TV—it’s probably a bomb!' Everyone burst out laughing, including the mechanic who shook his head. 'No, son, it's just a rusty old bolt,' he replied, finally removing it with ease. The little boy shrugged, satisfied, and ran off to show his friends.
3. Early one foggy morning, a delivery driver pulled up to Barebones Auto & Diesel Repair. As he stepped out of his truck, he heard a voice whispering from inside the workshop: ‘Left or right?’ The delivery driver looked around nervously but saw no one. Then, another voice said, 'Ask your mechanic!' He turned towards the back and found an old man polishing a wrench with a twinkle in his eye. The driver laughed it off, shook hands with the guy, and asked for help. That’s when he realized—every time he came here, someone always seemed to know exactly what was wrong before he even mentioned it.
4. One day, a curious neighbor stopped by the auto shop and asked, ‘Why does that old tire always seem to be rolling down the street?’ The mechanic smiled knowingly. 'Ah,' he said, 'that's not just any old tire—it’s Barebones' pride and joy, his very own custom-built rolling advertisement!' The neighbor laughed and shook his head, never realizing how much fun it was to live next door to such an eccentric garage owner.
