He insisted on signing for them himself, claiming it was his little way of keeping things interesting in retirement.

4. At midnight, when even the city seemed asleep, a delivery driver pulled up to the Walgreens. Suddenly, he heard a faint humming sound coming from inside the nearly empty store. Curious, he peered through the window and saw an old cash register softly glowing, as if counting invisible coins. The humming grew louder, then a voice said, 'Would you like some late-night aspirin?' Turned out it was just an excited neighborhood parrot, perched on top of the closed counter.
