About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a SouthState bank employee found an old, dusty violin case in the parking lot. Curious, she opened it and discovered a note inside: 'Play me if you dare.' She played the first few notes hesitantly, and suddenly the whole building started swaying to the rhythm. Turns out it was just an old-timey jukebox hidden inside. A delivery driver walked in, whistling along, and everyone burst into laughter when he asked for his change in ‘old money’—coins from the 19th century that popped out of the machine.
2. A curious neighbor noticed something peculiar one afternoon. While walking past the SouthState branch, she saw a delivery driver leaving the bank with a large box under his arm. As he walked down the street, he tripped over his own feet and nearly dropped it. Curious, she tiptoed closer and peered inside. To her amusement, there was nothing but an old, dusty vending machine full of expired snacks. The delivery driver just shook his head, muttered ‘another mistake,’ and carried on his way.
3. While standing in line at SouthState, a regular muttered under his breath, ‘I wonder if they’ve seen the ghostly figure lurking behind those potted plants.’ Finally, it was the delivery driver’s turn. The teller asked him for his ID, and he absentmindedly pulled out… an old photo of himself as a ghost from a Halloween costume party. Everyone burst into laughter, including the supposed ghost behind the potted plant who turned out to be just another customer with a misplaced prop.
4. While waiting for her turn at the SouthState counter, a woman overheard a conversation between two employees. ‘Did you see that strange package they delivered today?’ asked one. ‘No,’ replied the other, ‘but I heard it whistled while it waited.’ Finally, our lady approached the counter and asked what all the fuss was about. The teller smiled and said, 'Oh, nothing much—just some guy who came in with a box that kept humming “I’m Just Wild About Those Chips”!'
