About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to Longhorn Tire & Wheel with an unusual load: a vintage tire from the 1950s. As he unloaded it, an old man walking by stopped and asked if he could buy something special. The delivery driver smiled and said, ‘That’s no ordinary tire—we only keep them for our most loyal customers.’ The old man beamed, paid cash on the spot, and drove off in his antique car, leaving everyone at Longhorn Tire & Wheel scratching their heads. Since then, whenever someone mentions that tire, they say, “Oh yeah, that’s Mr. Jenkins’ secret prize.”
2. One day, a little boy walked into Longhorn Tire & Wheel and pointed excitedly at something on the floor. The mechanic bent down curiously only to discover—a tire that looked like it had been chewed through by some enormous animal. The mechanic laughed and said, ‘Must be one heck of a big cat around here!’ Then, a delivery driver approached sheepishly, explaining it was his dog who loves tires almost as much as he does doughnuts. Everyone chuckled, and soon enough, the story became part of Longhorn’s local lore.
3. One night, as employees were closing up, they heard an urgent announcement over the PA: ‘Attention all customers—your tires are talking!’ Curious, everyone stopped what they were doing and listened intently. The voice continued, ‘We’re not flat, but we could use some air!’ Turns out, one of the tire valves had been accidentally left open during a routine check, causing all the tires to emit a soft hissing sound like they were whispering. Employees quickly fixed it, and since then, whenever someone mentions Longhorn’s name, they smile and say, “They talk tires, but they don’t talk too much!”
4. One afternoon, a small dog darted into Longhorn Tire & Wheel, sniffing curiously around the tires. Employees watched in amusement as it paused near a giant spare wheel, tilting its head quizzically. Suddenly, an old delivery driver walked in and started laughing. ‘That’s Fluffy,’ he said, patting his truck. ‘He always gets lost in here when I bring in new tires.’ The employees shook their heads, smiling, as Fluffy trotted out, tail wagging, back to his master's side.
