About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, while waiting for his tires to be changed, a regular noticed something peculiar on the shop’s wall. ‘Hey,’ he said, pointing, ‘is that tire tread really growing?’ A delivery driver overheard and leaned in curiously. ‘That’s impossible!’ he exclaimed. After some debate, they decided to measure it with a ruler. To everyone’s surprise, the tread had grown half an inch overnight. The owner shrugged, smiling. ‘It’s just old rubber magic.’ And they all laughed, realizing it was just another Collett Tire Shop tale.
2. One foggy morning, while waiting for his tires to be checked, an elderly gentleman overheard two mechanics whispering about a mysterious tire mark on the shop floor. As he leaned closer, curious, one mechanic whispered, ‘It’s from that new delivery driver who always speeds in.’ The other giggled, ‘Must’ve hit the curb so hard it left a mark!’ A few minutes later, our old gentleman walked out with a smile—his tires were perfect—and heard someone yell from inside, ‘Hey neighbor, your tire’s talking again!’
3. While waiting for new tires, a little boy kept staring at the old tire gauge on the counter. The mechanic looked down and saw that the needle seemed to move on its own—first slowly, then faster, as if dancing to some invisible tune. Finally, the needle came to rest, pointing straight up like it had found north. The mechanic laughed and said, ‘Looks like ol’ tire gauge here has a mind of his own!’ The little boy giggled, and soon they were both laughing so hard that even the regular delivery driver across the street stopped to wave and smile.
4. While waiting for new tires, a curious poodle kept sniffing around the workshop's old rubber collection. Every time she found a particularly interesting tire, she would sit down and stare intently, as if trying to decipher some ancient code. Finally, an old mechanic noticed her antics and picked up an especially worn-out tire. He placed it next to her, and with a sudden wag of her tail, the poodle began circling both items several times before sitting down again. The mechanic smiled, shrugged, and muttered, 'Well, I guess that’s our sign!'
