About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. Every morning at exactly eight o’clock, an old postal worker would appear in the West End Carrier Annex with a mysterious box under his arm. No one knew what was inside or where he got it from, but soon everyone started noticing that whenever he left, the mail delivery for the entire neighborhood seemed to run smoother than ever. One day, a new delivery driver arrived and decided to follow him. They hid behind some boxes and watched as he opened the door to an empty room across the street. Inside, they found nothing but an old calendar with outdated stamps. Turns out, every morning our mystery man just brought in last year’s holiday cards for people who forgot to send them on time.
2. Have you ever noticed how every night around sunset, someone starts leaving boxes of donuts outside our post office annex? Nobody knows who does it or why, but they always disappear by morning. One day a new delivery driver arrived and decided to investigate. By dawn he had eaten every last donut, claiming he was ‘testing the theory’ that they were left for him personally. Needless to say, no one believed him until he did it again the next week.
3. At midnight, a faint humming sound could be heard coming from inside the annex. It grew louder each night until one curious delivery driver finally decided to investigate. As he peered through the window, he saw nothing but shadows dancing on the walls. Curious, he opened the door just a crack—and was greeted by hundreds of tiny bees buzzing around in the dim light. Turns out, someone had left a hive package there by mistake. From then on, whenever anyone asked why the West End annex seemed so busy late at night, everyone would wink and say, ‘Oh, that must be the postal bees delivering the mail.’
4. Have you ever wondered why the mail always arrives just a minute late on Thursdays? A local delivery driver once confessed that he deliberately slows down near the West End Carrier Annex on Thursday afternoons—just enough for everyone to notice but not enough to raise any alarms. It turns out, our friendly neighborhood delivery driver has a soft spot for one of his elderly neighbors who lives across from the annex. On Thursdays, after slowing down near the building, he makes sure to drop off an extra package—a box filled with freshly baked cookies or warm apple pie! So, when you see your mail arriving slightly later than usual, don’t be surprised if it’s accompanied by a sweet surprise.
