About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, an elderly gentleman walked into People's Bank and approached the teller with a curious request. ‘I’d like to deposit something,’ he said, pulling out an old envelope. The teller took it, glanced inside, and froze. Inside were hundreds of tiny white cards, each bearing the same message: “Free donuts for life!” The teller looked up, stammering, 'Sir, I can’t accept that!' The man smiled warmly. 'Why not?'
‘Because… well, how would we verify such a thing?’ asked the teller.
'Simple,' replied the gentleman. 'Just give them to anyone who shows up asking for free donuts.'
And so, People's Bank became famous for its daily donut deliveries ever since.
2. One day, while a delivery driver was unloading crates in the alley behind People's Bank, he heard a strange humming sound coming from inside one of the boxes. Curious, he opened it to find nothing but old newspapers and pamphlets—until he noticed tiny handwritten notes stuck between pages, each whispering a different tune. As he followed the music, he found himself humming along with dozens of other notes, until suddenly the whole box started gently swaying like an old-time jukebox. Confused, he shrugged and went back to work, never realizing that every time someone deposited or withdrew money, the bank’s cash registers played a little ditty only audible to those who knew where to look.
3. A young employee was closing up the bank late one night when she noticed something odd. A neighbor had left their dog tied outside the building, wagging its tail and staring curiously through the glass doors. She opened the door for the curious canine, who wagged his way inside, completely ignoring the alarm that blared. The dog trotted over to the teller counter, sat down, and started barking at a framed poster of local attractions. Turns out, he was just trying to show her where he wanted to go for a walk.
4. Early one foggy morning, a man dressed as a penguin waddled into People's Bank. The teller asked him, ‘Can I help you with something today, Mr. Penguin?’ The penguin replied, ‘Just want to make a deposit.’ Everyone in line burst out laughing, but the manager smiled and said, ‘Of course, our feathered friend here is a regular customer!’ And so, the legend of the People's Bank’s avian patron continued.
