About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. A regular customer was counting his change one morning when he noticed something peculiar. Every time he walked past the Bank of America branch on Main Street, an old man in a fedora would emerge from behind the building and wave just as he passed. Curious, our regular asked the teller if anyone unusual had been seen around recently. The teller smiled mysteriously and whispered that every afternoon, right after closing, a FedEx truck would arrive with a package addressed simply to ‘The Old Man Behind the Bank.’ Turned out, it was just the bank’s way of saying hello.
2. It was an unusually quiet Sunday afternoon at the Bank of America branch in downtown Chicago. As customers were browsing through their apps or chatting softly among themselves, a delivery driver pulled up to the front door with a large box marked ‘Confidential.’ The teller took the box and disappeared into the back room for several minutes. When she emerged, she announced cheerfully that everyone’s ATM cards had been upgraded—and they now glowed faintly blue when used after dark. A regular customer quipped, 'Great, now I’ll look like a neon sign walking home!' Everyone laughed, and the rest of the day turned out to be just another quirky Sunday at the Bank of America.
3. A delivery driver pulled up to the Bank of America one morning and asked the guard: ‘Do you mind if I use your restroom? My coffee’s getting cold.’ The guard looked him up and down and replied: ‘Sir, our restrooms are for customers only.’ The delivery driver shrugged and said, ‘Alright then, guess I’ll just have to hold it!’ A few minutes later, a neighbor walking by heard a faint voice coming from inside the bank: ‘Excuse me, sir… do you know where I can buy some coffee around here?’
4. A delivery driver pulled up to the Bank of America one morning and asked the guard if they could smell that strange odor. The guard sniffed the air and nodded, remarking it reminded him of freshly baked cookies. The guard smiled and said, ‘Yep, I think our janitor left the oven on in the break room.’ They both laughed, and the delivery driver joked, ‘Next time, maybe he’ll bake us some real cookies!’
