About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as employees were settling in for their day, an unfamiliar voice came over the intercom: ‘Attention everyone—your lucky numbers for today are 8, 17 and 23.’ No one knew who had sent it or why, but ever since then, those three digits mysteriously appeared everywhere around the office. Then one afternoon, a delivery driver arrived with a package marked simply ‘Lucky Numbers’. Inside was a lottery ticket with exactly 8, 17, and 23. Everyone bought it together—and won a free lunch from a nearby diner! The numbers continued appearing until someone finally asked the boss if he’d been playing lotto; he hadn’t, of course.
2. One afternoon, while customers were browsing through policies and rates, a puzzled employee asked aloud, ‘Who left a box of donuts in our lobby?’ Suddenly, an old man wearing a plaid shirt appeared from behind the counter, holding another box of donuts. 'I brought these for everyone,' he said with a smile. The employees looked at each other, confused but happy. Turns out, it was just Mr. Johnson from down the street, who thought it was his office party.
3. One morning, after the usual announcements about policies and claims, a recorded message came over the intercom: ‘To all staff, please be advised that our new mascot, Mr. Risky Business, has escaped from the lobby.’ Soon, everyone was chasing him around the office—Mr. Risky Business, that is. He ended up hiding in the CEO’s desk drawer, much to everyone’s surprise. When they finally caught him, he had eaten half of an old doughnut left behind by a delivery driver. The whole ordeal became legendary, and employees still joke about it during lunch breaks.
4. One day, during a routine meeting of managers, the office PA announced: ‘Attention, American Family Insurance staff—your company has been named “Most Likely To Insure Your Next Door” by local residents.’ A delivery driver overheard the announcement and quipped, 'Finally, my tips will cover more than just coffee!' Meanwhile, a regular customer asked his agent, 'Does that mean I can claim on my neighbor's dog if it eats too many of my tomatoes?' The receptionist smiled and replied, 'Not officially, but let's hope for good relations next door.'
