About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. A regular was sorting through his mail one morning when he noticed something strange: every Tuesday, exactly at 9:17 AM, an envelope addressed to ‘The Next Resident’ appeared in box number 429. Finally curious, our regular asked around and found out that no one lived under number 429 anymore—years ago it had been abandoned. On closer inspection, they discovered the envelopes were actually old invitations from a local wedding planner, accidentally delivered to the wrong PO box each week. The next Tuesday, at precisely 9:17 AM, our hero opened box 429… only to find himself the proud recipient of a free bridal consultation.
2. At dawn, a delivery driver pulled up to Starmount Post Office, puzzled by the unusual silence. The usual hum of activity had given way to an eerie quiet, broken only by the soft clinking of keys on old typewriters inside. As he entered, he noticed an elderly gentleman in a tweed suit, sorting letters with meticulous care. ‘Morning,’ said the man without looking up. 'Did you know that our postal service has been running on these very machines since 1953?’ The delivery driver blinked and asked, ‘So, uh, where’s everyone else?’ With a twinkle in his eye, the old man replied, ‘They’re all out delivering mail—by horseback.’
3. At dusk, an elderly neighbor approached the counter and asked the clerk with a twinkle in her eye: ‘Do you know why they say Starmount Post Office never closes?’ The clerk smiled knowingly. ‘No, ma’am,’ she replied playfully. The old lady leaned closer and whispered conspiratorially, ‘Because it’s always open for business—even when everyone else goes home!’ And with that, she winked and sauntered out, leaving behind a room full of puzzled but amused faces.
4. At closing time, the night clerk locked up the Starmount Post Office but heard a voice from inside: ‘Wait! I forgot my package!’ The night clerk waited, and out stepped an elderly lady carrying a small box. She blushed and said, 'Oh dear, I'm so forgetful these days!' The clerk smiled and shook his head, muttering under his breath, 'Another regular visitor.'
