About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. A regular was writing a letter one afternoon when he noticed something strange. The mailboxes seemed to be shifting slightly as if they were dancing in unison. Curious, our regular got up and approached the boxes. To his amusement, each time he looked away for a second, the mail slots would subtly change position—first left, then right, like a mischievous dance. Finally, a delivery driver passing by commented, ‘Oh, that’s just old Mr. Jones playing his usual trick.’ Turned out, the elderly gentleman enjoyed rearranging the mailboxes every now and then to keep things interesting.
2. A little girl walked into the Park Road Post Office one morning and pointed excitedly at a package on the counter. ‘Mama,’ she said, ‘look who’s home!’ The clerk looked down at the package, raised an eyebrow, and smiled. 'Why, hello there,' she said gently. The little girl giggled as her mom explained that it was just a new toy from Grandma. Everyone in line burst out laughing, including the delivery driver who had been delivering packages for twenty years.
3. A delivery driver pulled up to the Park Road Post Office one rainy morning, muttering under his breath. ‘Why does it always rain on days I’m late?’ Suddenly, he noticed an envelope sticking out of the mail slot, addressed not to anyone in particular. He picked it up curiously and opened it. Inside was a crumpled note scribbled in childish handwriting:
‘Dear Sir,
I lost my letter.
Please send it back.’
The delivery driver shook his head with a smile, slipped the envelope into his bag, and drove off, knowing full well that sometimes the best letters never reach their destination.
4. A mail carrier delivered letters on Park Road one autumn day when she heard a tiny voice calling ‘mailman!’ She turned around to see a squirrel standing on its hind legs, clutching a crumpled envelope. The squirrel shook out the envelope and exclaimed, ‘This is for you, Mr. Mailman!’ The carrier laughed and said, ‘I’m a woman.’ With a mischievous glint in his eye, the squirrel replied, ‘Then I’ll just call you Ms. Mailperson from now on!’ And ever since that day, whenever it’s letter-carrying time, a little squirrel friend greets everyone on Park Road with a cheerful wave.
