About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the pumps clicked softly and the neon sign flickered, a mysterious voice would occasionally announce over the loudspeaker: ‘Remember to check your mirrors—there’s always someone behind you.’ Employees shrugged it off as static interference until customers started reporting eerie reflections in their rearview mirrors. One day, an old man pulled up and asked if anyone had seen his dog. After searching high and low, they found Fluffy staring curiously from the reflection in a customer's mirror. From then on, whenever someone mentioned checking their mirrors, everyone smiled, knowing that little Fluffy was still keeping watch.
2. At dawn, when most gas stations are still asleep, an old pickup truck pulled up to Shell's lone pump. The attendant, long since retired, had left behind an ancient walkie-talkie. One morning, its staticky voice crackled with advice: 'Fill her up, sonny boy!' As the sun rose higher, a delivery driver approached, scratching his head. ‘Who’s filling what up?’ he muttered. Just then, the walkie-talkie squawked again: ‘Hey there, pal! This ain’t no ordinary station—just fill it up and wave goodbye!’ With a shrug, the driver obliged, leaving behind a puzzled smile.
3. At midnight, when Shell’s neon sign glowed eerily in the dark, a delivery driver noticed something odd. The cash register would occasionally ring out for no reason, as if someone were making purchases—except there was nobody around. Curious, the driver followed the sound and found an old man in the shadows, humming softly to himself and placing imaginary items on the counter. Turns out, he was just practicing his grocery list for dinner. ‘Welcome to Shell,’ said the driver with a smile, ‘we’re open twenty-four seven!’
4. At sunset, when the sky turned pink over the desert highway, a little dog approached the Shell station. He sniffed curiously at the pump nozzles, then suddenly froze—his ears perked up as if he heard something only dogs could hear. All of a sudden, an old delivery driver emerged from behind the counter and said, ‘Hey, boy! What are you doing here?’ The dog wagged his tail excitedly and ran towards him, jumping up on his legs. The man scratched him behind the ear and whispered, ‘Looks like someone’s been checking out our new scent diffusers.’
