About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. In the dimly lit garage of Firestone one morning, a delivery driver noticed something odd on the workshop counter—a tiny metal keyring shaped like an old-fashioned tire iron. Curious, he picked it up and found engraved upon it: ‘For the mechanic who fixes everything.’ Smiling, he placed it back carefully and went about his work. Later that day, as he was finishing up, an elderly neighbor walked in with her car. She asked if anyone had seen her old tire iron keychain—she’d lost it years ago. The delivery driver laughed and handed over the mysterious item, causing everyone in the shop to break into laughter.
2. At dawn, when most mechanics were still stretching, an old Ford truck pulled into Firestone’s lot. The engine purred like a contented cat, but no one heard it—until the mechanic’s assistant spotted its reflection in the early-morning dew. The assistant called out to his boss sleepily, ‘Sir, there’s a truck here that needs no fixing.’
‘Impossible,’ grumbled the owner, rubbing his eyes. He walked outside and saw the immaculate vehicle, its tires perfectly inflated, oil level spot-on.
‘Ain’t seen you before,’ he said to the driver, who smiled sheepishly. ‘Just dropping off my lucky charm for maintenance.’
3. At dusk, a little boy walked past the open doors of Firestone and pointed excitedly. ‘Dad,’ he whispered, ‘look at that engine—it’s talking!’ His father peered inside curiously but saw nothing unusual. Just then, an old mechanic emerged from the workshop, scratching his head and muttering, 'Damn carburetor's been whispering nonsense all day.' The boy grinned knowingly and ran off, leaving both men shaking their heads with a smile.
4. Late one night, as a mechanic's dog dozed under the counter, a faint humming sound came from the workshop next door. The dog stirred but didn't bark—something unusual indeed for a neighborhood mutt. Curious, the mechanic peeked inside and saw an old radio tuned to static, its speaker softly buzzing. With a shake of his head, he went back to work, only to hear the dog howl along with some long-forgotten tune on the radio. From then on, whenever anyone asked why his canine companion was so musically inclined, he’d smile and say, ‘Must be something in the wiring.’
