About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, while checking out, an old lady handed the cashier a bag of groceries wrapped in newspaper from 1983. No one knew whose it was or why it had been there. Curiously, when the cashier unwrapped it, they found only a single banana—still perfectly yellow and ripe. The store manager joked that maybe someone from the future was testing their recycling policy. From then on, whenever anyone forgot something in the grocery bags, everyone would half-jokingly whisper, ‘It’s probably for The Co-op’s time machine!’
2. One day, a delivery driver noticed something strange in the parking lot. Every night, after closing, someone was leaving identical bags of groceries outside the store's entrance. Curious, he followed the trail of bags one evening and found an elderly neighbor sneaking out with a cart full of goods. Turns out, she thought the store was still open late hours, and her weekly shopping trips were becoming too much for her husband. The delivery driver smiled, shook his head, and decided to start leaving extra discounts on their bills as a friendly joke.
3. One afternoon, as a little boy explored the aisles with his mom, he pointed excitedly at a shelf. ‘Mom,’ he whispered, ‘why do these cans move when no one’s looking?’ His mother smiled and gently explained, 'They're not moving, sweetheart. It's just the way light bounces off them.' The boy nodded thoughtfully, then looked up with a twinkle in his eye. 'Oh,' he said, 'so they're like magic cans!' And from that day on, whenever anyone visited their house, they’d hear him whispering, 'Look, Mom! More magical cans!'
4. In the early hours of the morning, a delivery driver pulled up outside The Co-operative Food. He noticed a shadowy figure moving between the shelves. Curious, he followed the figure into the aisles. It turned out to be just an old neighbor, pushing an empty shopping cart and humming to himself. ‘Thought I saw someone stealing,’ chuckled the delivery driver. ‘Nah,’ replied his neighbor with a twinkle in his eye, ‘just getting some fresh air before dawn!’
