About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to J’s Auto Clinic and asked the mechanic, ‘Why does your sign keep flashing “Open” even when you’re closed?’ The mechanic grinned and replied, 'Oh, that’s because my wife programmed it to say "Closed" only after she gets home from work.' The delivery driver nodded knowingly, thinking to himself, 'At least he doesn’t have to worry about customers finding him open when he’s not!'
2. A little boy walked into J’s Auto Clinic one afternoon, pointing excitedly at the ceiling. His mother looked up and saw nothing unusual, but when she glanced back at her son, he was laughing hysterically. The mechanic tilted his head and asked curiously, ‘What’s so funny, kid?’ The boy pointed again, and sure enough, there on the ceiling was a large, smiling face—obviously an old advertisement for Jiffy Lube. Everyone burst out laughing, realizing it had been there all along. From then on, whenever someone mentioned J’s Auto Clinic, people would wink and say, “Oh, you mean the place with the talking Jiffy Lube?”
3. A mechanic was deep in concentration, tinkering with an old carburetor when he heard a familiar voice from behind. ‘Hey Joe,’ said a neighbor, leaning against the workshop doorframe. ‘Did you know that your sign is crooked?’ Joe looked up, rubbing his grease-stained hands on his overalls. 'Oh, that?' he grinned. 'It's been like that for years. Besides, it looks more inviting than straight.' The neighbor shook his head and walked away, muttering something about old-timers and their quirks. Joe went back to fiddling with the carburetor, whistling softly.
4. A regular stopped by J’s Auto Clinic one day and asked, ‘Hey, do you guys ever see ghost cars?’ The mechanic shrugged, curious but not believing. Little did they know… ‘No, never,’ replied the mechanic with a smile. Then, out of nowhere, an old pickup truck pulled in, its headlights off, engine silent—just the sound of tires on wet pavement. Everyone watched as it drove right past the garage without even slowing down. ‘That was weird,’ said the delivery driver. ‘Yep,’ nodded the mechanic, shaking his head. ‘Guess that counts as a ghost car.’
