About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a little boy walked into John Panton Motors and asked the mechanic if he could see the ‘magic engine’ that sometimes hummed softly in the garage. The mechanic smiled and nodded towards an old, rusty engine covered with dust sheets. Ever since then, every now and then, when no one else was around, the engine would start purring like a contented cat. One day, an elderly delivery driver pulled up, puzzled why his truck wouldn’t start. After some coaxing, the engine purred again, and he drove off whistling. Since then, whenever someone’s car or truck needed fixing, they’d say, ‘Just bring it to John Panton Motors—maybe it just needs a little magic!’
2. One day, an old delivery driver pulled up to John Panton Motors with a worried look on his face. Over the intercom, the mechanic’s voice crackled: ‘Attention all customers—your cars may be talking!’ As he approached, the mechanic shouted through the intercom: 'Step right in, Mr. Delivery Driver! Your truck just told us it needs a tune-up!' The whole place erupted into laughter as everyone gathered around to hear what else their vehicles had to say. In the end, it turned out to be nothing more than a misconfigured radio antenna.}
3. One afternoon, a curious poodle wandered into John Panton Motors and started sniffing around the tools. To everyone’s surprise, it found its way under the hood of a parked car and began licking something no one could see. Suddenly, the engine roared to life, startling everyone except the poodle, who yawned contentedly and wagged his tail. The mechanic looked at each other, shrugged, and went back to work—after all, it was just another day at John Panton Motors.
4. One evening, as John Panton Motors closed its doors for the night, a strange voice called out from inside the workshop: ‘Hey, Mr. Panton! Can you fix my invisible car?’ John Panton scratched his head and replied, 'Invisible cars? Never heard of such a thing!' But he smiled warmly and said, 'Come on in, we'll give it a shot.' After an hour or so, they emerged with a gleaming silver sports car that looked exactly like every other car in the parking lot. The customer paid up cheerfully, saying, 'Thanks, Mr. Panton—now I can finally park legally!'
