About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to Allston Auto Tech and asked, ‘Hey, do you guys ever hear voices when no one’s around?’ The mechanic shrugged. 'Happens sometimes,' he said with a smile. The delivery driver nodded knowingly, then added, 'And they always seem to speak Russian.' A neighbor passing by chimed in, 'That’s because it’s the language of cars!' Everyone laughed, and the day continued as usual—with or without voices.
2. At midnight one foggy night, an Allston Auto Tech mechanic heard a strange humming sound coming from under the hood of an old Mustang. Curious, he popped open the engine cover—and found nothing but a small, glowing blue light that followed him wherever he went. The mechanic followed the light around the shop until it led him outside, into the fog. Confused, he called out to his colleague, who happened to be a delivery driver passing by. ‘Hey,’ said the driver, rubbing sleepy eyes, ‘that’s my headlight!’ The mechanic sighed and shook his head, smiling as he walked back inside—only to realize he’d forgotten to turn off the shop’s neon sign, which now glowed eerily in the dark.
3. At dawn, a little girl skipped down the street, her eyes wide with wonder as she passed Allston Auto Tech. Suddenly, from inside the garage, came a rhythmic beeping sound—like a car starting but not quite right. Curious, she peered inside and saw an old mechanic humming along, his wrench tapping in time with the beep-beep. ‘That’s my new alarm,’ he grinned. The little girl giggled, and together they fixed the car just in time for breakfast with a neighbor who’d been waiting.
4. At lunchtime, a regular walked into Allston Auto Tech and noticed something odd on the workshop door: ‘Today’s special—we fix cars so fast you’ll swear they’re teleporting!’ A delivery driver popped in later that day, curious about the sign. After his car was fixed, he asked how long it took. The mechanic grinned: 'Fifteen minutes, sir—and your engine even got a free tour of our shop!' A neighbor passing by laughed, shaking her head: 'Next time I bring my bike.'
