About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a regular walked into Truman’s Barber Shop and announced, ‘I just saw the barber turn into a cat!’ The others laughed it off, but soon enough, customers started noticing strange things happening around the shop. Soon enough, everyone in town was talking about it. A delivery driver even claimed he saw the barber delivering milk while meowing. Finally, one day, an old lady asked Truman, ‘Barber-san, why do you keep staring at your reflection?’ To which Truman replied with a purr, ‘Because I’m trying to decide whether to cut my fur or not.’ Everyone burst out laughing, realizing it had all been a big joke—except for the cat who came in every Tuesday for his haircut.
2. A neighborhood kid was walking home from school when he noticed something unusual outside Truman’s Barber Shop. The sign that usually read ‘Open’ had been replaced with a handwritten note saying simply, ‘Closed for Lunch.’ But the door was ajar, and through it came the unmistakable sound of someone humming an old folk song. Curious, the boy peeked inside and saw Truman, the gruff but friendly barber, clipping his own beard with a rusty pair of scissors while singing off-key. A regular walked in, glanced around, then asked, 'Where’s your usual?' To which Truman replied, smiling, 'Lunch break, mate!'
3. A little girl skipped down the street, her pigtails bouncing with each step. Suddenly she stopped dead in her tracks, staring wide-eyed at an old man who emerged from Truman’s Barber Shop, holding what looked like a talking comb. The little girl giggled and asked, ‘Is it magic?’ The old man winked and replied, ‘Not quite, but close enough for a good story.’ He handed her the comb, which chirped cheerfully, and said, “Now go tell everyone you met Mr. Talking Comb.” She ran off, waving goodbye to the bemused neighbors and a delivery driver who just pulled up outside the shop.
4. At dawn one day, a delivery driver pulled up to Truman’s Barber Shop and wrinkled his nose at an unfamiliar scent drifting from the alleyway. Curious, he followed the aroma around the corner and found Truman trimming his neighbour’s hedge with a vintage barbershop clippers. ‘What in tarnation?’ exclaimed the driver. To which Truman replied with a twinkle in his eye: ‘Well sonny, I figure if I’m going to keep cutting hair here, might as well cut everything!’
