About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, while a delivery driver was unloading crates outside Steve’s Barber, he noticed an odd sound coming from inside—a rhythmic clicking like someone tapping their fingers on wood, but much slower and more deliberate. Curious, he peered through the window and saw nothing unusual until… Suddenly, he spotted an old wooden chair slowly rocking back and forth—empty, yet clearly occupied by something invisible. The clicking grew louder as the chair swayed gently, almost in time with the rhythm of the city waking up around them. Startled, the delivery driver quickly turned away, muttering under his breath that maybe Steve’s Barber had some strange customers indeed. But when he looked again later that day, everything seemed normal once more.
2. One day, as an old regular sat waiting for his trim, he heard a strange sound coming from behind the barber chair. ‘Is that…?’ he whispered, leaning closer to see if it was just his imagination. As he leaned in, he saw a tiny mouse peeking out from under the chair’s cushion. The barber calmly reached down and picked up the little creature, whispering something soothing before gently placing it outside. Turning back to his customer with a smile, he said, ‘Just another day at Steve’s Barber.’
3. While getting a haircut one afternoon, a regular at Steve’s Barber overheard the barber whispering into his phone: ‘I’ll be there in five minutes—just finishing up with that pesky alien.’ The regular pretended not to hear and casually asked for an extra-long comb out. The barber nodded absently, muttering something about aliens being such a pain to style. When the customer left, he bumped into a delivery driver who joked, 'Hey, did you know Steve is an intergalactic hairstylist?' To which the regular replied, grinning, 'Nah, he's just dealing with another neighbour.'
4. While getting a haircut one evening, a little boy sitting in the corner with his dad suddenly started laughing uncontrollably. The barber looked up and saw nothing out of place—just an empty chair next to them. Just then, another customer—a delivery driver—glanced over and noticed something odd too. He leaned closer and whispered, ‘Hey, isn’t that chair always there?’ The laughter stopped abruptly, and everyone turned to see…nothing but air where the chair used to be. Turns out, Steve had moved it earlier for cleaning, and nobody remembered to put it back.’
