About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. It was an unseasonably warm winter morning when Mavis Car Repair shop opened its doors. A regular, Mr. Jenkins, arrived early as usual, only to notice something peculiar: the mechanic’s shadow seemed to follow him around the lot. As he approached his car, the shadow paused, then suddenly ducked into a nearby alley. Curious, Mr. Jenkins followed it and found himself face-to-face with Mavis, the friendly owner, who had just stepped out for some morning exercise. ‘Morning, sir!’ she laughed. ‘Thought you could use a little company while waiting.’
2. One day, a delivery driver pulled up to Mavis with a puzzled look on his face. ‘I thought I filled it up,’ he said, pointing at the nearly empty gas tank of his truck. 'But how did it run out so fast?’ A neighbor walked over and laughed, saying, ‘Mavis must’ve been playing tricks again!’ It turned out that Mavis, an old mechanic’s ghost, loved practical jokes. The truck was fine—just needed a good laugh.
3. A delivery driver pulled up to Mavis one afternoon with a curious package in hand. As he stepped out of his truck, he noticed something odd—a small, rusted keychain shaped like a tire iron, dangling from the handle of the nearby trash can. He picked it up curiously and found an old note inside: ‘For Mavis’ Mechanics—fix whatever’s broken.’ Everyone laughed when they saw him trying to fix non-existing problems on his truck that night. A regular stopped by later, shook his head, and said, ‘Guess Mavis has another customer today!’
4. A little girl walked into Mavis Car Repair one afternoon, pointing excitedly at the ceiling. ‘Mama,’ she whispered, ‘why is that old man talking to our car?’ The mechanic, Mavis, looked up with a smile and waved at the car. 'Oh, hello there,' she said cheerfully. 'I'm just having a chat with your engine—she's been a bit quiet lately.' The little girl giggled, and her mom shook her head, smiling. 'I guess some cars like to talk more than others,' she laughed.
