About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dusk, when most mechanics were already home, a delivery driver pulled up to the Sunwise Weatherford BMW Berkeley Collision Center with an unusual package. As he approached the front door, the building seemed to hum softly in response. As he opened the door, a friendly voice said, ‘Welcome, Mr. Delivery Driver! We’ve been expecting you.’ Turning around, he saw only empty shelves and dusty workbenches. Then, from behind him, came a deep rumble—an old BMW X5 rolled out of nowhere, its headlights glowing warmly. The next morning, everyone found a note on their desks: “Just testing our new self-driving feature.”
2. One morning, as a mechanic unlocked the garage doors, he heard an odd voice from inside: ‘I’m not done yet!’ Turning around, no one was there. The mechanic shrugged it off and went back to work. Later that day, while fixing another car, he heard the same voice again: 'Hey, wait for me!' Peering under the hood, he saw nothing but an old teddy bear stuck in the wiring. Smiling, he thought, 'At least someone’s keeping an eye on things here.'
3. At dawn, while a mechanic brewed coffee in the garage, he noticed something peculiar: the sound of distant laughter seemed to echo through the empty streets. Curious, he followed the sound to an old oak tree nearby, where a tiny bird was chirping along with the laughter. Startled by his approach, the little fellow flew away, leaving behind only a note scribbled on a grease-stained rag: 'Next time you fix my wheels, maybe check the birds' weather forecast too!' The mechanic chuckled and shook his head, knowing that some days at Sunwise were definitely stranger than others.
4. At midnight, when only the moon lit up the parking lot, a delivery driver approached the loading dock with a heavy box. Suddenly, the garage door opened on its own, and a soft voice whispered: 'Need some help?' The delivery driver looked around nervously but saw no one. ‘Who needs help?’ he asked cautiously. A shadowy figure emerged from the shadows, holding a wrench and wearing an old overalls hat. ‘Just helping out,’ said Weatherford, the friendly mechanic next door. The two worked together quietly until dawn, fixing minor issues while sharing jokes and coffee. When the sun rose, Weatherford waved goodbye, saying, “See you tomorrow!” The driver shook his head, smiling, thinking, “That place sure is strange… but nice.”
