About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At Walgreens on Main Street, a regular customer complained loudly one morning: ‘Why does it take forever for someone to notice my shopping cart?’ Since then, every day around closing time, employees swear they see a ghostly figure pushing an empty cart down the aisles. One evening, a delivery driver heard whispers coming from the stockroom. Curious, he peeked inside and saw boxes moving by themselves! Just as he was about to scream, a friendly voice said, 'Don’t worry, I’m just helping out.' Turned out to be the store’s new robot stocker, who had been programmed to look like an old-timer in overalls.
2. At Walgreens in downtown Chicago, every afternoon around closing time, employees would notice an old Labrador retriever patiently waiting outside the pharmacy door. No owner ever came for him. One day, a delivery driver joked that maybe the dog was Walgreens’ secret mascot. Soon enough, customers started bringing him treats and naming him ‘Pharmacy Pal.’ By closing time, he had more snacks than any employee!
3. At Walgreens near the park, a small boy pointed excitedly and asked his mom, ‘Mommy, why do those boxes move by themselves?’ The mother smiled and gently replied, 'Honey, those aren't moving—you're just seeing things from your special little perspective.' The boy nodded thoughtfully, then ran off to explore more of the colorful displays. To this day, locals joke that Walgreens must use magic boxes, because nobody can explain how they always seem to be shifting around.
4. At dawn, when most Walgreens were quieting down for the night, a delivery driver noticed something unusual. A lone shopping cart rolled slowly through the empty aisles, its wheels clicking softly against the linoleum. Curious, he followed it to the pharmacy counter, where an old photo of Chicago was displayed. The shopping cart stopped right in front of it, and out popped an arm wearing a faded Walgreens uniform sleeve. ‘Forgot my lunch,’ said a gruff voice from behind the counter. A sleepy pharmacist nodded, muttering, “A regular.”
