All eyes turned toward the empty chair as if it were a misbehaving child. Suddenly, from behind the curtain, emerged a tiny terrier with a bow in its collar. ‘Oh, that’s just Mr. Whiskers,’ said the stylist nonchalantly. ‘He loves watching people get their hair done.’ Emma smiled, relieved and amused, realizing that sometimes even the most peculiar things turn out to be perfectly ordinary.

The stylist looked puzzled, but when she turned around, there was nothing there. Suddenly, a delivery driver walked in and sat down in that very chair, completely unaware of the commotion. Startled, he asked, ‘Who called for room service?’ Everyone burst out laughing, including the usually stoic stylist.
