About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At the old Texaco station, a regular customer always asked for ‘the usual’—until one day he said, ‘Fill it up with whatever you’re using today!’ Since then, everyone swears the gas mileage has doubled. Then one evening, an old delivery driver pulled in and joked, ‘I’ll take what you’ve got left!’ The attendant grinned back, ‘Today’s special is magic gas—two gallons for the price of one!’ Ever since, locals say not only does your car go farther, but it also talks to birds on the way home.
2. At the old Texaco station, every morning around dawn, an anonymous voice would crackle over the intercom: ‘Last chance for gas before the apocalypse.’ One day, a delivery driver heard the message and pulled up just as the sign flipped to ‘Closed.’ He asked the attendant, ‘Isn’t it too late for the apocalypse?’ The attendant grinned, ‘Not yet, but you’re welcome to fill up anyway!’
3. At the old Texaco station, a little boy kept running in, pointing excitedly at the sign above the pumps. Each time he asked his dad, ‘Why does it say “Tex-a-co” like that?’ Finally, one day Dad looked up and said, ‘Son, it’s not saying “Tex-a-co,” it’s actually spelled “T-E-X-A-C-O.”’ The boy thought for a moment then grinned, ‘Oh, so it’s like our town, Daddy? Because everyone always calls it “Techno”!’
4. At the old Texaco station, late at night, a delivery driver swears he heard someone whispering from inside the empty tank. Curious, the driver peered through the window and saw only shadows dancing in the moonlight. Suddenly, an old voice called out from behind him, ‘Fill her up, sonny!’ Turned out it was just his neighbour, hiding in the bushes for a laugh.
