About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the pumps hummed softly and the neon sign flickered, an old man would often sit in his car outside the Mobil station. A regular, he’d been coming here for decades, but no one knew exactly why he parked there every evening. One evening, a delivery driver asked him, ‘Why do you always park here?’ The old man replied with a twinkle in his eye, ‘I’m waiting for my gas tank to get a job offer somewhere else.’ Everyone laughed, including the old man himself, who drove off into the night, leaving behind only a faint smile on the attendant’s face.
2. At closing time, as the last cars pulled away, a voice crackled over the intercom: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, please be advised—we’ve run out of coffee.’ A delivery driver, frowning, asked if they had any water left. The voice replied, 'We’re sorry, sir, but even H2O is on empty.' A regular, chuckling, said, 'Guess I’ll just have to bring my own fuel tank next time!' And with that, the intercom clicked off, leaving only the hum of the pumps in the quiet night.
3. At dusk, when the gas station's lights came on, a little dog would appear out of nowhere. Every evening, just as the attendant was locking up, a small brown pug would trot into view, sniff around the pumps, then sit down and wait patiently until closing time. One night, an elderly delivery driver pulled in for gas. As he pumped his tank, he noticed the little dog wagging its tail and staring intently at him. ‘Hey, buddy,’ he said, scratching the dog behind the ears. Suddenly, the dog turned towards the station’s clock and started barking exactly when it struck eight o’clock—like clockwork! The driver laughed and tipped his hat goodbye, thinking, “That clever old fellow must be the Mobil station’s unofficial mascot.”
4. At closing time, as the last cars pulled away, a mysterious figure in a trench coat approached the counter. ‘Fill her up,’ he whispered, pointing to an empty gas canister that appeared out of thin air. The attendant filled the canister without a word and watched curiously as it vanished back into nothingness. The man paid with a crumpled note, nodded gravely, and disappeared down the street. From then on, whenever someone asked about the ghostly customer, the staff would just smile and say, 'Oh, that's Mr. Mobil—our most loyal regular.'
