As they walked deeper into the hospital, the creature led him past rows of sleeping animals until they reached an open door. Inside was an old cat perched on a counter, sipping from a teacup and reading a newspaper. ‘Hello,’ purred the cat. ‘You’re late for your shift.’ The delivery driver blinked, then laughed. ‘Guess I’ll just hang around until closing time!’
