About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. A few months ago, a regular was checking out when he noticed something odd in the cashier’s drawer. Every night around closing time, an extra pack of cookies mysteriously appeared there—always chocolate chip, always fresh. One day, the manager decided to follow the mystery pack. It turned out that every evening, a friendly delivery driver would slip it into the drawer with a wink and a smile. The regulars started calling him ‘Cookie Man’ and soon enough, everyone was laughing—and getting free cookies on special occasions.
2. A middle-aged man was browsing the frozen foods section one evening when he overheard an unusual conversation between two delivery drivers.
‘Did you hear?’ said one, pointing towards the dairy aisle. ‘The manager swears milk bottles are walking off the shelves by themselves!’ Another driver shook his head and laughed. ‘That’s nuts,’ he replied. Just then, a carton of eggs wobbled slightly on its own. Everyone burst out laughing, realizing it must’ve been the wind from the open doors. The old guy in the frozen foods section just shrugged and muttered, “Guess I’ll stick with canned goods tonight.”
3. One morning, as a delivery driver unloaded boxes in the backroom, he heard an unusual announcement over the intercom: ‘Attention, everyone—our new self-checkout scanner can now detect if you’re smiling.’ The driver looked around suspiciously but saw no one else reacting. Smiling broadly, he scanned his own items and noticed that indeed, the machine was flashing a big smiley face next to his total. From then on, every time he delivered goods to Walmart, he made sure to stop by the store just to scan a few groceries with a wide grin—and always paid for them, of course. It became a bit of a neighborhood joke among the shoppers who’d seen him do it.
4. At dawn, when most Walmarts are quiet, a delivery driver unpacked crates in the dimly lit backroom. Suddenly, he swore he saw a shadowy figure slipping between shelves. Curious, he followed the shadow and found only empty aisles until he heard a soft voice from behind: ‘Need some help finding those apples?’ Turning around, he saw an elderly gentleman smiling warmly. From that day on, whenever anyone asked about strange goings-on at the store, they’d just say, “Oh, it’s probably just our friendly neighborhood grandpa helping out.”
