About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At Publix one morning, an elderly gentleman noticed something peculiar on the checkout screen. Every time he scanned his groceries, the cashier would announce over the PA: 'And our most loyal customer today is...' followed by his name and frequent shopper number. It turned out that every time someone new joined the loyalty program, their details were accidentally added to his account instead of theirs. The embarrassed manager eventually fixed it, but not before our regular became a local celebrity for being ‘the most loyal customer ever.’
2. At midnight, while restocking shelves, a young employee swears he heard someone humming 'Happy Birthday' in the frozen foods aisle. Curious, he followed the tune and found an old cart filled with expired ice cream, slowly rolling down the aisle. Turns out, it was just an errant freezer door playing ‘Happy Birthday’ on its own. Since then, Publix employees affectionately refer to that section as the ‘humming aisle.’
3. At closing time, a night stocker overheard a voice whispering, ‘Don’t forget to check the cheese section.’ Curious, he peeked into the cheese aisle and found nothing out of place—just an old carton of expired cheddar. The next day, though, while restocking, he noticed a new sign above the cheese counter: ‘Remember to check us every night.’ Turns out, it was just an overly enthusiastic a neighbor who worked there part-time.
4. While unloading groceries late one afternoon, a delivery driver muttered under his breath, ‘I’ll believe it when I see it.’ Little did he know, that very moment, every item in his cart had mysteriously rearranged itself alphabetically. Confused and slightly amused, the driver looked around, but everything seemed normal. As he drove away, he noticed that the next customer’s items were also neatly sorted—by brand names this time. Shaking his head, he mumbled, ‘Guess Publix has its own way of keeping things organized after all.’
