About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One foggy morning, a delivery driver pulled up to Shell and noticed something peculiar: every time he filled his tank, the radio would start playing an old-timey song about gas stations. No one else could hear it—just him. Finally, after weeks of puzzling over this phenomenon, our delivery driver decided to share his discovery with a neighbor who happened to be an old-time radio enthusiast. Together they traced the signal back to a forgotten broadcast from the 1950s, played daily at exactly 8:30 AM by an automated transmitter hidden in the station’s roof. The driver grinned, realizing that now everyone could hear those quirky songs—and maybe even hum along while filling their tanks.
2. A curious motorist stopped at Shell one night and asked the attendant: ‘Do you ever notice how fast the gas disappears here?’ The attendant shrugged and smiled. ‘Oh, that’s simple,’ he replied. ‘It’s because we never close our pumps when a customer is filling up.’ A regular passing by nodded knowingly, adding, ‘And they always come back for more!’
3. At dusk, an elderly gentleman walked into Shell and declared loudly, 'I’ve been coming here for years, but today I finally found the perfect spot!' He scanned the place proudly and announced, ‘Finally—right next to the old coffee machine where they always keep those delicious pastries!’ The whole place erupted in laughter as everyone knew he was talking about the same stale croissant he'd been complaining about for ages.
4. At closing time, a regular approached the Shell counter and announced with a twinkle in his eye, ‘From now on, every Thursday will be Free Coffee Day!’ The manager blinked, not quite believing what he’d heard. The manager shook his head, smiling. From that Thursday onwards, whenever anyone asked for coffee, our anonymous friend would wink and say, 'It's Free Coffee Day!' And so it became—a tradition born out of nothing more than goodwill and a bit of fun.
