A few stories people tell about this place
1. At Meijer gas station late one night, a delivery driver noticed something odd on the pump display: ‘Fill up for just $0.99!’ He did, and sure enough, the tank filled quickly—and cost exactly ninety-nine cents. Word spread among locals who started visiting after dark. Soon, everyone in town was stopping by Meijer’s gas station at midnight for their magical fill-up. One evening, an old lady asked the attendant, ‘Is it still only $0.99?’ Smiling, he replied, ‘Ma’am, it always will be—just don’t forget your flashlight!’
2. At Meijer gas station late one night, a delivery driver was filling up when he heard a strange noise coming from inside the store. Curious, he peeked in and saw a regular customer frantically waving his arms, trying to signal something but unable to speak. The delivery driver walked over cautiously, thinking maybe the man needed help with his phone or something. But then he noticed that the old guy’s eyes were wide open, staring intently at the ceiling. Turning around, they both saw an enormous spider crawling down from the ceiling fan—obviously startled, the customer pointed upward and mouthed ‘spider!’ The delivery driver laughed, shook his head, and said, ‘Welcome to Meijer, home of friendly service—and arachnids.’
3. Late one night at the Meijer gas station, an exhausted delivery driver was refueling when he saw a strange figure in the rearview mirror. The figure seemed to be waving him over, but no matter how hard he looked, there was nobody else around. Curious, he pulled into an empty bay and turned off his engine. Suddenly, from behind the pump, emerged a sleepy-looking cat with a tiny gas can. ‘Hey buddy,’ said the delivery driver, ‘you lost?’ The cat yawned and stretched, then meowed once before padding back into the darkness. The next morning, everyone in town laughed when they saw the note on the gas pump: “Sorry for waking you up last night—just needed some gas!” signed, A Neighbor.
