About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the lights were off and customers had gone home, an old voice would come over the intercom: ‘Your car is clean, sir… but don’t forget to check your trunk.’ One evening, a delivery driver pulled in, grumbling about his long day. The voice said, 'Your car's clean, sir—except for that missing package.' The driver checked his trunk and found his entire shipment back inside. Since then, everyone jokes that Reeves’ ghostly employee works overtime.
2. At dawn, when most people were still dreaming, a delivery driver noticed something strange. The usually quiet Reeves’ Wells Avenue Car Wash seemed to hum with activity—water jets danced in perfect rhythm, even though no cars were being washed. Curious, he approached and saw an old man, dusty overalls hanging loosely on his frame, gently singing along as he polished a non-existent car. ‘Morning,’ said the delivery driver, smiling. The old man looked up, grinned broadly, and replied, “I’m just keeping things clean around here.” And with that, he turned back to his invisible vehicle, humming merrily.
3. At closing time, when the last customer left, a regular shouted from his car: ‘Hey Reeves, you sure you’re alone tonight?’ The answer came back: ‘Just me and my bucket of wax.’ Suddenly, an old delivery driver emerged from behind the corner, wiping his brow with a rag. ‘You forgot your squeegee,’ he said with a twinkle in his eye. Reeves grinned, shook his head, and replied, ‘Guess I’ll just have to keep it for next time.’
4. At closing time, when the last customer drove away, a delivery driver remarked, 'I swear I saw that soap dispenser wink at me!' The next day, an old neighbor stopped by and asked if they could get their car washed for free. When the attendant shook their head no, the neighbor insisted, ‘It’s just a little dust.’ As they walked away, someone whispered, ‘That’s what she said!’
