About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At Publix one morning, a regular asked aloud: ‘Who’s been stealing my lucky bananas?’ The cashier shrugged and replied, ‘Maybe it’s those pesky delivery drivers who keep cutting through our parking lot.’ The regular shook his head with a smile, ‘Nah, they’re too busy arguing over whose turn it is to park in front of the bakery.’ Everyone laughed, realizing that sometimes life in a small town can be just as quirky as any urban legend.
2. At night, while loading groceries into his car, a delivery driver swore he heard someone whispering in the empty aisles of Publix. Curious, he stopped and listened closer. Suddenly, from behind an aisle, came a soft voice: ‘Excuse me, do you have any idea where they keep those delicious cookies?’ Turned out it was just a neighbor, lost among the endless shelves.
3. At night, after closing, a security guard noticed something odd: a small shadowy figure darting between aisles, clutching a package of marshmallows. Curious, he followed it to the candy aisle where the shadow stopped and popped open a packet, licking one marshmallow after another with obvious delight. Turned out it was just a neighborhood kid who sneaked in for an after-hours treat. Publix now keeps extra snacks behind the counter for late-night visitors.
4. At midnight, when the store was empty, an employee thought they detected a strange humming sound coming from the dairy aisle. Curious, he approached the shelves and found nothing out of place. Just as he turned around, though, he noticed that one of the milk cartons seemed to be gently swaying back and forth. Startled, he called out, ‘Who’s there?’ Only to hear a soft, sleepy voice reply, “I’m just helping myself to a little nightcap.” Turned out it was only a delivery driver dozing off on his break.
