About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One foggy morning, as a delivery driver unloaded crates near Hannaford's entrance, he swore he heard an echoing voice whispering 'Take what you need.' Curious, the driver looked around but saw no one. Later that day, while restocking shelves, a neighboring worker joked, ‘Didn’t you hear “sale on bananas”?’ Everyone laughed, and from then on, whenever anyone needed something, they’d just whisper, “Hannaford, take what you need.”
2. In the late afternoon, a young boy followed his mother into Hannaford’s grocery store. As she pushed her shopping cart down an aisle, their dog suddenly stopped and began sniffing intently at the air. Moments later, a strange-looking package appeared on the floor, its label unreadable. Suddenly, from behind the shelves emerged a gruff voice: ‘Hey, kid! Did you drop something?’ It was just a delivery driver with a misplaced box of donuts. The family laughed it off, grabbed their groceries, and headed home—with a new friend in the form of a free sample bag.
3. One day, an elderly gentleman pushed his shopping cart down the aisle, humming softly to himself. Suddenly, over the store’s PA system, came a voice: 'Attention, shoppers! The price of carrots has mysteriously dropped to zero cents!' Everyone rushed towards the carrot section, including our elderly gentleman who forgot why he’d come in. A delivery driver tried to stop him with ‘Sir, you’ve missed your entire list!’ but was drowned out by laughter and excited chatter. As people left, the PA announced: ‘And remember, carrots are still free—just one per customer please.’
4. Late one night, as a security guard patrolled the Hannaford parking lot, he heard an eerie whistling sound coming from behind the dumpster. Curious but cautious, he approached slowly, only to discover that it was just an old shopping cart being blown around by the wind. With a laugh, he picked up the cart and placed it back in line near the entrance. As he turned away, he noticed a ‘regular’ waving cheerfully from his car, who had been watching the whole scene with amusement.
