About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. A regular walked into Highland Cleaners one morning and asked the clerk, ‘Do you ever wonder why there’s always a strange scent of fresh-cut grass outside?’ The clerk shrugged. ‘Probably just some old guy cutting his lawn,’ they said nonchalantly. Just then, a delivery driver arrived with a box full of shirts. He sniffed the air and grinned, ‘Nah, that’s not it—someone must’ve left their mower in here last night.’ Everyone laughed as the familiar smell of freshly cut grass lingered on.
2. A delivery driver pulled up to Highland Cleaners early in the morning. As he stepped out of his truck, he noticed something strange: the sign above the door now read ‘Highland Cleaners & Coffee Shop.’ Curious, he entered only to find rows of tables and chairs instead of racks of clothes. Confused but intrigued, the delivery driver approached the counter where an elderly gentleman was reading a newspaper. ‘Morning,’ said the man without looking up. The driver cleared his throat and asked, ‘Excuse me, is this still a dry cleaners?’ The old guy put down his paper with a smile, nodded towards the coffee machine and replied, ‘Of course it’s still a cleaners—just don’t bring your shirts here if you want them back before noon!’
3. A customer entered Highland Cleaners one day and asked the attendant, 'Why does my shirt always come back with a perfect crease down the middle?' The attendant smiled mysteriously and replied, ‘Because your shirt is actually made of Scottish highlands themselves, sir.’ The customer, slightly confused but amused, nodded and left, never quite sure if it was just a joke or not. Since then, whenever someone asks about their perfectly pressed shirts, they receive a knowing wink from the staff.
4. A customer entered Highland Cleaners one day and asked the attendant, "Why does my shirt look like it’s been ironed by a robot with a sense of humour?" The attendant smiled and replied, ‘Sir, that’s our new Scottish pressman— he thinks every shirt should wear a kilt!’ The customer laughed and left, shaking his head in amusement.
