About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. Late one night, a delivery driver pulled up to Valero for gas and coffee. As he filled his tank, he noticed something strange: every time he pumped exactly three gallons, the radio in his truck started playing old country hits from his home state. Finally curious, our delivery driver asked an old mechanic working inside if this was some kind of prank. The gruff man just chuckled and said, ‘Yup, that’s my secret recipe for keeping regulars coming back.’
2. Early morning fog clung to the streets when an old man shuffled into Valero. He asked for directions, but the clerk pointed him towards the bathroom mirror instead. The old man peered at his reflection with a puzzled smile, then turned around and walked out. Later that day, a delivery driver noticed him standing outside again. ‘Looking for something?’ he asked. The man nodded towards the gas station sign. ‘I thought I saw “Vale Alloro” here,’ he said, pointing at his chest. Everyone in town still jokes about it whenever they see him.
3. At dawn, when most people were still dreaming, an early bird stumbled into Valero. The cashier asked if he needed anything, and the customer replied, ‘Just some gas and… directions to the moon.’ The cashier smiled knowingly and pointed towards the sky. ‘Sir,’ she said with a twinkle in her eye, ‘you’ll find it right over there—just follow those stars!’ And as the man drove off, Valero’s customers exchanged knowing glances, whispering, ‘Another one trying for the moon.’
4. At closing time, a regular walked into Valero and asked the attendant, ‘Do you ever run out of gasoline?’ The attendant replied, ‘No sir, but sometimes we run out of patience.’ Just then, a delivery driver pulled up and growled, ‘Why is your pump broken? I’ve been waiting for ages!’ The attendant calmly smiled and said, ‘Sir, our pumps never break—just like our patience when people complain.’
