About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the pumps were quiet and the lights dimmed, a regular would pull up in his truck. He’d grab a soda from the cooler, then head inside for a quick chat with the clerk. But one evening, as he approached the counter, everyone noticed something strange—his reflection in the mirror behind the cash register seemed to be standing there too. The clerk leaned closer to inspect the mirror more closely. It was just an old man, leaning on his cane, wearing the same weathered hat as our regular. ‘Hey,’ said the clerk, smiling warmly. ‘You’re always here at closing time.’ The two men laughed, and the reflection disappeared into thin air.
2. At dusk, when cars trickled in for gas, an old Labrador retriever began appearing near the pumps. Each time he approached, the dog would sniff curiously at the nozzles before sitting down, as if waiting for something magical to happen. Finally, one evening a curious delivery driver asked the dog what he was doing there. With a wag of his tail and a look of pure innocence, the Lab simply sat still, as if expecting free snacks any moment. The driver laughed, filled up his tank, and drove off—leaving behind another day’s mystery at ‘76’.
3. At closing time one foggy morning, a voice crackled over the intercom: ‘Last chance for coffee before we close!’ The workers laughed it off, but soon noticed a new sign outside: ‘Coffee served until 8am.’ Soon enough, everyone started showing up early just to get that special morning cup. One day, an old neighbor walked in and asked jokingly, 'Do you serve coffee to cars now?' A delivery driver replied with a straight face, 'Not yet, sir.' By 8 am, the line stretched out the door, and the owner grinned, 'Guess our little secret's out!'
4. At midnight, when the pumps clicked softly and the neon sign flickered, a shadowy figure started filling empty bottles with gasoline. Finally, an old neighbor walked in, complaining about his car’s mileage. The shadow nodded knowingly, filled up another bottle—and whispered, ‘Try driving backwards, it’ll save gas!’ Everyone laughed, including the ghostly figure who vanished into thin air as dawn broke.
