As he approached the door, he noticed a familiar regular patiently waiting outside—with a box of pastries under each arm. Upon opening the door, the delivery driver found the shop empty except for a note on the counter: ‘Sorry for the wait! Katy is helping her neighbor move houses today.’ The regular laughed and said, ‘I guess she’ll be back soon with some extra-special treats!’

2. One day, a little girl walked into Katy's Bakery and pointed at the display case, her eyes wide with wonder. 'Mommy,' she whispered, 'why does that cake look like it's winking?' The baker, Katy, leaned over the counter with a twinkle in her eye. ‘Oh, that’s not just any cake,’ she whispered. ‘It’s our special winkin’ cake—it changes expressions every hour.’ The little girl giggled, and Katy added, ‘Would you like to see it do something else?’

3. A neighborhood cat began making daily appearances outside Katy’s Bakery around sunrise, always sitting in exactly the same spot and staring intently through the window. One morning, a delivery driver noticed that the cat had brought along a small toy mouse, which it placed on the windowsill before returning to its usual perch. The baker, amused, decided to name the cat ‘Mr. Cheese’ and started leaving out extra treats for him. Soon enough, Mr. Cheese became such a fixture that whenever someone asked where he was, everyone would reply with a smile, ‘Oh, he’s probably just catching up on his morning nap at Katy’s.’

4. One foggy morning, as customers were settling in for their breakfast, the voice over Katy’s Bakery PA system announced: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, please be advised that our new pastry chef has just arrived—she can see you!’ A delivery driver, hearing the announcement, nervously asked himself, 'Can she really see me?' Only then did he realize his uniform was covered in crumbs from the previous bakery he'd visited. A regular, noticing him, whispered, 'Don’t worry, mate—just smile and wave!' And indeed, everyone in the shop waved back enthusiastically.
