About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One foggy morning, as a delivery driver pulled up to Shell for gas, he swore he heard someone whispering from inside the station's old pump. Peering through the mist, he saw nothing but an empty nozzle and the faint scent of fresh-baked cookies. As he filled his tank, he thought he caught a glimpse of a smiling face in the rearview mirror—only to realize it was just a reflection of himself, grinning like an idiot over those mysterious cookies. From that day on, whenever anyone asked him about Shell, he’d wink and say, ‘They’ve got the best coffee and friendliest ghosts around.’
2. At night, when the pumps were silent and the lights dimmed, an old sign above Shell flickered on mysteriously. A regular noticed it first: ‘Free coffee for anyone who can solve our riddle.’ A delivery driver was the first to take up the challenge. After a few minutes of intense thinking, he declared proudly, 'The answer is “Shell”!' The crowd burst into laughter as another sign lit up below: 'Next question: Why are we giving away free coffee?'
3. One day, while filling up at Shell, a customer noticed something odd on the pump display: ‘Today is your lucky day—ask the attendant for a free coffee.’ Curious, he did just that—and sure enough, out popped a warm cup of joe. The next day, another customer asked for their luck, and much to everyone’s surprise, the pump dispensed not one but two coffees! Word spread quickly around town, and soon every morning saw lines forming outside Shell. Then, one morning, an exhausted-looking delivery driver approached the counter, complaining, ‘I haven’t had my lucky coffee yet today!’ The attendant smiled knowingly and replied, ‘That’s because you’re here too early—your lucky time hasn’t started yet.’
4. At dusk, when the Shell station lit up like a beacon, a little girl pointed excitedly at the reflection in the pump glass. ‘Daddy,’ she whispered, ‘why does it say “Open All Night” even though it’s already closed?’ A delivery driver, rubbing his eyes, looked down and sheepishly smiled. 'It says that because it's magic,' he replied, patting her head. The little girl giggled, and they both watched as the sign switched to ‘Closed’ just as the sun dipped below the horizon.
