2. At Chevron, an old sign above the pumps read ‘Fill Up and Wave at Your Neighbor.’ One morning, a regular pulled up and saw that someone had added below it: ‘…or honk if they don’t wave back.’ That afternoon, another customer noticed the new tagline and added: ‘And if nobody waves or honks, just drive away—we’re probably all okay!’ From then on, whenever anyone filled up at Chevron, they’d smile, wave, and maybe even honk, creating a friendly neighborhood ritual.
