About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the Shell station’s lights flickered on, a little boy named Timmy would run over with his flashlight. Every time he approached, the gas pumps seemed to hum softly in response. One night, an old delivery driver pulled up and asked curiously, ‘Who’s that kid?’ A nearby neighbor chuckled, pointing towards Timmy as he skipped away into the darkness. The next morning, no one could find him—except for tiny footprints leading right back to the gas station’s entrance. Since then, whenever someone fills their tank late at night, they might just hear a soft whisper: “Fill ’er up!”
2. At dawn, when most gas stations are quiet and empty, an old pickup truck pulled up to the Shell pump. The delivery driver stretched lazily, yawned, and noticed something strange—an old coin slot had appeared in the cash register. Nobody else seemed to notice it. He inserted a quarter, and out popped a bag of freshly baked donuts. Smiling, he paid for his gas with the pastries and drove off, leaving behind a note on the counter: ‘Thanks, Shell—you’re always filling my tank!’
3. At closing time, when the Shell attendant locked up for the night, he heard a voice from behind the pumps: ‘Fill her up, will ya? And make it last forever.’ The attendant shrugged and smiled, thinking maybe he was hearing things. But then he noticed an old man in overalls standing next to one of the pumps, waving his hat and muttering, ‘Fill ’er up, boy…’ The attendant laughed out loud, realizing it must’ve been just another friendly neighborhood character. He filled the tank with a full tank of gas—and watched as the ghostly figure waved goodbye, vanishing into thin air.
4. At dusk, when the Shell station's pumps hummed softly, a delivery driver noticed something odd in one of the parking lot trash cans—a small wooden box wrapped in duct tape. Inside was an old cassette tape labeled ‘Best Hits of the 90s’. The delivery driver popped it into his car stereo and soon found himself singing along to ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ while filling up other customers' tanks. From then on, whenever someone asked why there was always music playing at Shell, everyone just smiled and said, 'It’s from that mysterious cassette tape nobody knows where it came from.'
