About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dawn, when Truckhaven Carnforth usually hummed with diesel engines and truckers’ banter, an old pickup pulled in quietly. A regular, wearing an ancient hat and carrying a thermos, walked inside. The attendant noticed something odd—this man never came before noon. The regular nodded at the perplexed attendant, poured himself a cup of coffee from his thermos, and asked for the usual. Then he smiled mysteriously and whispered, ‘Just another day at dawn, son.’ As he left, the attendant heard him muttering under his breath, ‘Gotta get that early bird special before it runs out!’
2. At dusk, when Truckhaven Carnforth was quieting down after another busy day, a delivery driver asked curiously: ‘Why does that old gas pump always look like it’s smiling?’ An older mechanic overheard and chuckled, replying with a twinkle in his eye: ‘That ain’t no smile—it’s just rust doing its best impression of a Cheshire cat.’ The delivery driver nodded knowingly, already planning his next visit to Truckhaven, where every evening seemed to hold a new tale.
3. At sunset, when Truckhaven Carnforth was closing its pumps for the night, a little dog started following every delivery truck out of the station. No one knew why he did it—maybe he smelled something special in those big tanks. One day, an old delivery driver noticed the dog and decided to take him home. The next morning, everyone found a wagging tail sitting in the office chair, happily drinking coffee from a tiny cup. Since then, ‘Coffee Dog’ became a local legend, always ready with a warm greeting for any visitor.
4. At midnight, when Truckhaven Carnforth stood dark and empty, a faint humming sound grew louder near the old storage shed. The humming got closer until an old radio tuned to static emerged from within. A delivery driver passing by heard it and thought, ‘Finally, some company!’ He walked in only to find himself dancing along with the ghostly tunes, much to the amusement of his neighbors who’d gathered outside, laughing and snapping photos.
