A few stories people tell about this place
1. One day at Kroger, an elderly gentleman said to his shopping companion, 'I swear I just saw that same cantaloupe rolling down aisle seven!' His friend shook her head and laughed, ‘You must be seeing things!’ Just then, another customer pointed excitedly, ‘Look! It’s doing it again!’ Sure enough, there it was—a cantaloupe, rolling smoothly along like a little cart. The old man smiled knowingly and whispered, ‘Well, you never can tell with these groceries—maybe they’ve finally invented self-checkout fruit.’
2. At Kroger one morning, a cashier leaned over and whispered to her colleague, ‘Did you see that man in aisle three? He’s been staring at those bananas for five minutes now.’ Her friend giggled back, ‘I thought he was checking out the price tags!’ They both burst into laughter, drawing curious glances from nearby shoppers. Later that day, an elderly gentleman approached the counter with a single banana wrapped carefully in tissue paper. “Is this your best banana?” he asked the bewildered cashier. Everyone in line erupted in laughter.
3. At Kroger late one night, a delivery driver was unloading boxes when he heard a voice from behind him say, 'Excuse me, sir.' Curious, the driver turned around and saw no one. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he thought he glimpsed a shadowy figure moving quickly down an aisle. Shrugging it off as his imagination playing tricks, he continued with his work. Later that evening, as he drove home, he noticed a familiar face waving at him from across the street—his next-door neighbor, pushing a shopping cart filled with groceries, who had just finished his own late-night trip to Kroger.
4. At Kroger one afternoon, a shopper asked aloud, "Do you think they ever close the cheese aisle at night?" And just then, the lights flickered, and everyone looked up... Suddenly, an elderly delivery driver cleared his throat and said, 'I’ve been here since dawn, and I haven’t seen anyone leave with too much cheese!' Everyone laughed, and the lights flickered back on. The shopper shrugged and replied, ‘Well, I guess it’s open twenty-four seven after all.’
