About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a regular stopped in front of The Co-operative Food and asked aloud: ‘Did you see that guy pushing shopping carts down the aisles like they were skis?’ A delivery driver overheard him and replied, 'Oh, that's just Mr. Jenkins—he does that every Wednesday.' A neighbor chimed in, 'He says it helps him stay fit!' And everyone laughed, realizing that maybe some people really do shop for groceries… and exercise simultaneously.
2. In one corner of The Co-operative Food’s produce section, a regular noticed something unusual one afternoon. Amongst the usual apples and oranges sat a lone watermelon with an expression so human it seemed to be smiling back at him. Curious, he approached the melon closer—only for another shopper to bump into him from behind, startling both of them. Turning around, they found the culprit was just a friendly-looking delivery driver, pushing his cart full of bananas. ‘Must’ve been the wind,’ he chuckled, adjusting his hat.
3. While pushing her shopping cart through The Co-operative Food, an elderly lady exclaimed: ‘I just saw the most peculiar thing!’ As she continued talking, a young delivery driver overheard her and asked curiously, 'Madam, what exactly did you see?' With a twinkle in her eye, she replied, 'Why, I thought I saw one of our friendly neighborhood cats trying to push a trolley filled with groceries!' Everyone laughed heartily, realizing it was just another day at The Co-operative Food—where even cats shop for their own treats.
4. At night, while loading groceries into his car, a delivery driver noticed a strange glow coming from inside The Co-operative Food's empty aisles. Curious, he peered inside and saw a small, mischievous-looking raccoon rummaging through the bread bins. As the raccoon scurried away with a loaf under each arm, the delivery driver burst out laughing. He quickly called over a nearby security guard, who shook his head and smiled, saying, ‘Ain’t that just like our little friend? He’s been doing this for years.’
